Chesterfield's semi-final match against Bromley was halted when a drone was spotted over the Technique Stadium on 7 May. Players were taken off the pitch for their safety. A 27-year-old man from Chesterfield was arrested shortly after and has been charged with flying a drone above assemblies of people. He also faces charges for flying beyond visual line of sight, failing to register as a drone operator, and failing to display operator ID on the drone. The man is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 8 June. Chesterfield went on to win the semi-final match but lost the subsequent final to Notts County at Wembley. The incident caused a significant delay in the match. Derbyshire Police initially stated the man had been charged with 14 other offences related to drone activity, but this was later clarified as incorrect. The Technique Stadium is Chesterfield's home ground and has a capacity of over 10,000. The club has been playing in the National League, aiming to secure promotion to the English Football League. And despite the disruption, Chesterfield's players showed great focus to win the match. But the final against Notts County proved to be a tougher challenge. So the club will have to wait another season to try and secure promotion.
