Chesterfield have completed the permanent signing of attacking right-back Remeao Hutton, bolstering their defensive options ahead of the new League Two campaign. The 27-year-old arrives after his contract at Gillingham was terminated by mutual consent, bringing nearly 250 league appearances to the Spireites.
Who is Remeao Hutton?
Hutton is a dynamic full-back known for his attacking contributions, having featured 48 times for Gillingham last season and 47 the campaign before. His career includes stints at Swindon Town and Stevenage, and he has already faced Chesterfield twice in League Two last term. Assistant manager Danny Webb praised his energy and quality, stating he fits the club’s style of play perfectly.
What does Hutton bring to Chesterfield?
The new signing promises athleticism and a steady supply of crosses into the box. Hutton highlighted the club’s ambition, saying, “I know what the team here is capable of and I know what they’ve done in the past few seasons. They’re always up and around it, and hopefully we can get promoted together.” His arrival follows the additions of Junior Eccleston, Alfie Pond, Jack Simpson, George McEachran, Ruel Sitirou and Josh Koroma.
What’s next for the Spireites?
Hutton and his new team-mates are set for a private friendly against Boston United as they prepare for the season ahead. Chesterfield’s next competitive fixture is at home to Bristol Rovers on 2027-02-27, with the side currently sitting 3rd in the League Two table.
