Chesterfield winger Danny Anisjko has been called up to represent Latvia Under-21s for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers.
The 20-year-old will join the national squad for three matches, starting with a home fixture against Germany U21 on Saturday, September 26. Latvia then travel to face Greece U21 on Thursday, October 1 before hosting Malta U21 on Tuesday, October 6.
Anisjko's selection highlights the club's role in developing international talent while they sit 12th in League Two on eight points. The call-up comes as Chesterfield prepare for a key home match against third-placed York this weekend, part of a recent run of form that reads two wins, two draws and one defeat.
"Everyone at Chesterfield Football Club wishes Danny the best of luck over the course of the three games," a club spokesperson said.
Supporters can follow the team's progress in his absence via the club's fixtures and squad pages. Anisjko will rejoin the Spireites after the international break, with his next potential club appearance coming in October.
