Chesterfield Football Club have secured the signing of attacker Louie Marsh on a season-long loan from Sheffield United. The 22-year-old forward is expected to make his debut for the Spireites in their upcoming League Two fixture against Gillingham at the SMH Group Stadium on Tuesday night.

This move bolsters a Chesterfield side currently positioned 16th in the League Two table, having taken three points from their opening three matches. Their recent form reads LWL, with two goals scored and three conceded so far this season. They sit four points behind early leaders Barnet.

Louie Marsh is a product of Sheffield United's academy system. He made six first-team appearances for the Blades, scoring one goal. To gain experience, he has completed loan spells with Doncaster Rovers, Fleetwood Town, and most recently Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership. During his time with Falkirk, he registered three goal contributions, a goal and two assists, across nine appearances.

Assistant manager Danny Webb highlighted the qualities Marsh brings to the squad. Webb pointed to the player's talent, desire, and the valuable experience he has already accumulated. His ability to contribute directly to goals was a key factor in the move.

The player himself expressed clear enthusiasm for the transfer. "I’m really excited to be here," Marsh said. "I know it’s a massive club with big aspirations." He also made a commitment to the supporters, adding, "I look to create chances and I’ll give 100 per cent every game, no matter what happens."

Marsh arrives as an attacking option for manager Paul Cook, who will be looking to improve upon the team's current goal difference of minus one. His versatility across the front line and his proven ability to both score and create goals at a senior level addresses a clear need. His addition provides more depth and competition for places as Chesterfield aim to climb the standings. Fans can view the updated player roster on the club's squad page.

The immediate focus is on integrating Marsh into the team ahead of the Gillingham match. Tickets for the fixture at the SMH Group Stadium are available for purchase. Following that, the club faces a busy period of fixtures which can be tracked on the official fixtures schedule. The loan deal for Louie Marsh runs for the entirety of the 2026/27 season.
