Chesterfield is focusing on achieving financial sustainability after reporting considerable operating losses. Chairman Ashley Kirk revealed that the club's financial accounts for the 2024-25 season showed a loss of £2.3 million, a decrease from the previous year's loss of £3.3 million. The club aims to significantly reduce its reliance on owner funding by the end of the 2027-28 season, aspiring to be a financially stable EFL League One club. The increased revenues from being part of the EFL have contributed to this reduction in losses, according to Kirk. He emphasized the challenges of running an ambitious club in today's football economy, noting the ongoing support from the Kirk family. Chesterfield has also reached out to the new Independent Football Regulator to align its governance and financial processes with regulatory requirements. Kirk paid tribute to his late brother Phil, whose contributions were vital in ensuring the club's continued existence and success in the Football League.
