Chesterfield twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw away to Crawley Town on Saturday. Lee Bonis and Louie Marsh scored for Paul Cook's side, who remain seventh in League Two with 15 points from 10 games.

Bonis opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, meeting a Lewis Gordon cross with a sharp first-time finish for his fourth league goal of the campaign. Chesterfield controlled much of the first half but could not extend their lead, with Bonis firing a good chance over the bar before the interval.

The game turned dramatically after the hour mark. Crawley substitute Gianmarco Di Biase levelled from the penalty spot just two minutes after coming on, then put the hosts ahead five minutes later by deflecting a Dylan Morgan shot past Ryan Boot. Chesterfield responded quickly, with Marsh restoring parity in the 56th minute after Lewis Richards had blocked a goalbound effort from Dilan Markanday.

Team news and reaction

Paul Cook named an unchanged starting eleven for a third consecutive league game, lining up in a 4-2-3-1 shape. The visitors edged possession and created more chances, registering 19 shots to Crawley's 11. "We should have killed the game off earlier," admitted goalscorer Lee Bonis afterwards. His 13th goal of the season in all competitions was not enough for victory. Crawley's two-goal hero Di Biase said, "I’m just happy to help the team get a point."

The result ends a run of three straight defeats for Crawley and earns them their first home point of the season. For Chesterfield, it extends their recent form to two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five outings.

Attention now turns to a trip to Vale Park next Saturday to face Port Vale, who sit 22nd. The sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Technique Stadium last month. Check the full schedule on our fixtures list.
