Chesterfield secured a commanding 4-2 victory over Tranmere Rovers in League Two on Saturday, a result that lifts them to 11th in the table. The win, built on a dominant attacking display, gives Paul Cook's side 11 points from their opening eight games.

Dilan Markanday opened the scoring after 15 minutes, finishing from a Remeao Hutton cross. Tranmere levelled just before the hour mark through Dylan Jones, but Chesterfield's pressure told late on. Louie Marsh restored the lead in the 83rd minute, assisted by Markanday, before substitute Josh Koroma struck twice in the final minutes. His first came from a Marsh pass two minutes later, and he added a second in stoppage time, set up by Lee Bonis. Jacob Slater grabbed a late consolation for the visitors in the 94th minute.

Key Contributions

Chesterfield's attacking trio of Markanday, Marsh and Koroma drove the win. The hosts controlled the game, enjoying 66% possession and registering 26 shots to Tranmere's six. The result sees Chesterfield climb above their opponents in the standings, with both now level on 11 points.

Cook's side showed a strong response after a 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town last time out. They now sit four points behind leaders Barnet.

League Context

The victory provides momentum ahead of a trip to face Crawley Town next Saturday. Crawley currently sit bottom of the division. Chesterfield have no fresh injury concerns and are expected to maintain a settled squad. Their recent form reads three wins, one draw and one loss from their last five league outings.

Top scorer Lee Bonis, who has 13 goals in all competitions this season, provided the assist for Koroma's second. The team's next challenge is an away fixture at Crawley on October 10. Check the upcoming schedule on our fixtures page.
