Chesterfield secured a 2-0 home win over York City on Saturday evening to continue their positive recent form. Goals from Lee Bonis and Dilan Markanday at the SMH Group Stadium earned the three points.

The victory moves Chesterfield up to 11th in League Two, with 11 points from their opening eight matches.

Bonis broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, collecting a pass from George McEachran before driving into the area and finishing. The striker now has 13 goals in all competitions this season. Chesterfield then hit the woodwork three times before Markanday sealed the win with a superb strike in the seventh minute of added time.

York threatened occasionally, with Jeff King striking the crossbar, but over 1,000 travelling supporters saw their side leave empty-handed. The result extends Chesterfield's recent run to three wins in their last five league games.

Paul Cook's side now prepare to host Tranmere Rovers, who sit one place above them in 10th, on 3 October. Check the upcoming schedule on our fixtures page.
